All types of massage help to remove toxins and waste products (such as lactic acid, excessive proteins in cells, and metabolic waste), from the tissues, the lymphatic system, the fascia, and muscles. When these toxins and waste products stay in our bodies it can cause a multitude of problems. The problems can range from swelling of the joint, loss of mobility in a limb or joint, pain, stiffness, discomfort, and even restless nights of no sleep.
Massage helps to improve blood flow and circulate oxygen to the tissues, the lymphatic system, the fascia, and muscles. When our bodies do not have the proper blood and circulation it cannot eliminate the toxins and waste products, which can lead to disease, feeling sluggish, feeling tired, tension headaches, and muscle spasms.
Massage is also beneficial in speeding healing time following an injury, surgeries, scar tissue, sickness, etc. When scar tissue builds up in the connective tissue it prevents blood flow and oxygen to the area, which causes you more pain and discomfort in that area. Scar tissue build up can lead to many other problems in the body, since it blocks the blood, lymph, and oxygen flow. Scar tissue can be broken down by Myofascial Release or Lymphatic Drainage Massage instead of surgery (which it will come back!).
